ASCEND Career Technical Student Organization
HOSA
Open to ASCEND students only, HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) is a global student-led organization for medical and animal science students.
We meet bimonthly to talk HOSA, study healthcare topics, listen to guest lectures, and prepare for competition. We attend the State Leadership Conference (SLC) in March to compete in various healthcare related competitions such as: knowledge tests, skill performance, writing, speaking, and so much more. We also listen to guest speakers and have a chance to connect with each other and other healthcare students from around Oregon. If you do well at SLC you will be invited to showcase those same skills at the International Leadership Convention (ILC) against HOSA members from all over the world.
We want HOSA to be accessible to all medical and veterinary students. There are 3 ways to be involved in HOSA:
Come to our bimonthly meetings, join a study group, and compete (either virtually or in person) at the State Leadership Conference.
Come to our bimonthly meetings and study medical science related topics with us but do not attend the SLC.
Do not attend monthly meetings, study independently, meet with the chapter advisor 2-3 times to make sure you are on track, and then join us to compete at SLC.
FFA
FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA develops members' potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success. Members are future chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, international business leaders, teachers and premier professionals in many career fields. FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education.
National Technical Honor Society
National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is the honor society for Career & Technical Education (CTE). As a national non-profit student organization, NTHS has been recognizing outstanding student achievement in CTE since 1984. Having served over 1.2 million members in secondary and postsecondary chapters across the country and beyond, NTHS continues to support the next generation of skilled workers and leaders through chapter activities built around our Core Four Objectives of career development, leadership development, service, and recognition.
DECA
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the world.
The DECA experience starts in the classroom where students learn business concepts in preparation for college and careers. A powerful instructional component, DECA brings the classroom to life by empowering the teacher-advisor to make learning relevant with educational programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition. The successful integration of each of these four interconnected components, also part of DECA’s guiding principles, results in a strong program that produces college- and career-ready students.
At the ORCA Student Help Desk, our mission is to ensure that every K‑12 student can achieve success in their virtual learning journey. Working in partnership with Mrs. Catherine Hay and the dedicated Help Desk team, we provide friendly, easy‑to‑understand support that empowers students to overcome challenges without needing technical expertise.
We believe technology should never be a barrier to learning. That’s why we focus on:
Accessibility: Offering clear guidance and resources that any student can follow.
Support: Responding with patience, encouragement, and solutions tailored to each learner’s needs.
Success: Helping students stay on track academically by removing obstacles and building confidence in their digital environment.
Our goal is simple: to make technology feel approachable, so students can focus on learning, growing, and reaching their full potential.
We can help determine whether support is required from the ORCA Help Desk and assist you in creating tickets with them.
