School Summary
Oregon Charter Academy (ORCA) is a virtual public school serving students in grades K–12 throughout the state. Teachers at ORCA are student-focused, adapting to meet students’ educational needs through personalized learning using our high-quality curriculum and the teaching of 21st-century skills. ORCA is authorized by the Santiam Canyon School District and governed by its independent charter school board. The school has been in operation since 2005 and is accredited through Cognia.
Position Responsibilities
The English Language Teacher will provide targeted language instruction, collaborate with general education teachers, and ensure English Learners have equitable access to academic content while meeting state and federal requirements.
English Learner Teacher will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
Deliver high-quality, synchronous and asynchronous EL instruction in a virtual setting
Develop and implement individualized language development plans aligned with student proficiency levels
Collaborate with content-area teachers to support language acquisition across the curriculumMonitor and document student progress using formative and summative assessments
Maintain compliance with Oregon and federal EL guidelines (e.g., identification, progress monitoring, reclassification)
Communicate regularly with students, families, and staff using virtual platforms
Participate in IEP, 504, and student support meetings as needed
Maintain accurate records and documentation in the school’s learning management system
Other duties assigned as assigned

Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree required, masters degree preferred.
Current Oregon teaching license with proper certifications/endorsements.
Strong technology skills.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Student-focused approach.
High degree of flexibility.
Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast paced environment.
Willingness and ability to travel on occasion.
Ability to work remotely.
Ability to work occasional evening hours, as needed.
