Education/Teaching & Training Pathway

The pathway prepares students to inspire, educate, and support learners of all ages while developing the skills needed to become effective educators and leaders. Students explore topics such as child and adolescent development, instructional strategies, classroom management, educational technology, communication, and leadership through hands-on learning, mentoring, and real-world teaching experiences. They develop critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving skills while learning how to design engaging learning experiences and support diverse learners. This pathway can lead to careers such as teacher, early childhood educator, instructional assistant, school counselor, education administrator, corporate trainer, instructional designer, and other education-related professions. Students build a strong foundation for college, industry certifications, apprenticeships, and careers dedicated to helping others learn, grow, and succeed.

The future of education is rapidly shifting toward hyper-personalized, tech-driven, and lifelong learning models. Key emerging opportunities include AI-assisted tutoring, immersive XR (AR/VR) classrooms, and modular skills-based credentialing, which collectively transform educators from primary information providers into individualized learning facilitators.

MRS. ROBIN BENDER

I have been teaching since 2001, beginning my career after earning both a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Fitness Management and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Southern Oregon University. I also hold an Associate of Arts in Science degree from College of the Siskiyous, where I attended for two years and competed in collegiate softball. Since joining ORCA in 2007, I have taught Health, Physical Education, Nutrition & Foods, Foods and Cooking, and Intro to Cooking at ORCA. I am passionate about helping students develop practical cooking skills, practice kitchen safety, and prepare healthy, nutritious meals for themselves and their families.
